An eight-time 2004, 2010, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2020, and 2021 Navy National Champion Air Rifle Team, 2009 and 2016 Junior Olympic Champions, 2013 and 2014 National Rifle Association National Champions, 2014 and 2017 Civilian Marksmanship Program National Champions, two time American Legion Nation Champions and 2009 US Army National Champions composed of all NJROTC cadets. The team has won the Illinois State Championship sixteen of the last eighteen years. Safety training and a 100% on the test along with some paper work must be completed before you are allowed to participate. Cadets are issued all the equipment they will need for practice and competitions at no cost. There is a one-time fee of $50 dollars to cover pellets and target cost. The team competes in various National Competitions and Junior Olympics. Annual competitions if qualified include trips to Fort Benning, GA, Colorado Springs, Co, Nashville, TN, Camp Perry, OH, Anniston, AL, Phoenix, AZ, Sandy, Utaha and various locations in Illinois.
This is a year-round sport that requires an extensive amount of dedication and precision. Team members must be in the NJROTC program. Practice hours are as follows; Varsity/JV 1st relay 1500 - 1645. Beginners, 2nd relay 1645 - 1800.
The ZB Rifle Team is one of the best and well known sporter rifle teams in the nation.
