About World Languages

  • In our society, the study of a second language is an important skill to acquire not only for college purposes, but also for career development and cultural enrichment. The opportunity to enroll in French, German, Spanish, or American Sign Language further enhances communication skills in a verbal/non-verbal and written format. In acquiring a language, students learn to adapt to different cultures and experience that culture’s literature, art, music, and history.

Although it is recommended that students be reading at or above grade level in order to succeed in a second language class, attitude, motivation, and personal goals are often more important in determining a student’s rate of success.
